A Friend
My wife and I have convinced several friends of ours to start recycling! Think
of the difference you can make by convincing just one friend or family to recycle
each month! Over the years you will be responsible for keeping tons of waste out
of landfills!
Paper vs. Plastic? Bag your own!
When
going to the grocery store, one might wonder which way to answer the cashier when
asked "Paper or plastic"? The answer is that both types are about equally
harmful to the environment. The answer should have come with you to the store
in the form of sturdy reusable bags! Sometimes we forget, and in that case, pick
whichever YOU are more likely to reuse or recycle, and TRY TO BAG YOUR GROCERIES
YOURSELF!
It boggles my mind, over and over I see cashiers putting one
or two things in each bag, so you could walk out of there
with 20 lightly filled bags! When I ask for as few bags
as possible they look at me strangely, sometimes giving me an
attitude. I guess these people are not paid to think!

Ideas for Batteries and Lightbulbs
If you don't have the time to figure out where to take a battery or what to
do with it - just put it in the "battery box" on that shelf in your
basement. If it takes you years to get to it so what? Just don't throw that battery
away no matter how small - just throw it in the BATTERY BOX!
I also have a lighbulb box for the energy saving bulbs that no longer work.
They have small amounts of mercury in them. Not sure where to take them nor do
I have the time, but I can take them downstairs to my shelf where I keep my lighbulb
box.
